May 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Metropolis TV is a clear example of citizen journalism combining international current affairs. The television programmes and website are produced by VPRO TV in cooperation with Hivos. The TV broadcasts are aired on Fridays on Dutch public TV channel Nederland 3. They are also available on the website Metropolistv.

Unlike the directors cuts of the videos on this website (which will be subtitled in English) the TV shows are only available in Dutch.

Spider Lilies

February 3, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Jade is a webcam girl, who broadcasts herself nightly on the internet to anonymous users. At a moment she presumes she is chatting with Takekoa, a former neighbour, Jade’s childhood crush. In the end the other chatter turns out to be a cop. A friendly one, but still a cop. How communicating via the web and the webcam can lead to crucial misunderstandings, shows the movie Spider Lilies. This Sunday afternoon the award winning Taiwanese film was screened in cinema Rialto (Amsterdam) as part of the serie Rialto World.
